What is a serum?
A serum is designed to deliver a high concentration of active ingredients, to boost the skin needs.
Think of a serum as an extra protective layer to stimulate the skin and fight against dehydration, ageing and hormonal imbalances.
Serums can be used all year around, but we particularly recommend using it during the winter months as the skin can get easily damaged in the cold weather & central heating.
As a metaphor think of the coat you are wearing to protect your body when its cold, but what is there to protect your face ? It is crucial to create a coat with your serums & creams to protect your skin.
Which serum to use ?
Its composition can be made of water, gel or oil base:
Oil Serums are suitable for most skin types – yes, even for oily skin! Apply the serum on its own & massage it in or mix it with your moisturiser and use it in your daily routine to boost & treat your skin concerns. Oil based serums contain essential fatty acids which most skin required to stay balanced & healthy.
Gel Serums have a quicker absorption effect on the skin. Suitable especially for dehydrated skin types, which sometimes can be tight and would make an oil serum difficult to penetrate. Lighter in texture, it doesn’t leave any oily residue on the skin, a perfect mix with your everyday moisturiser.
What is the purpose of using a serum ?
- It helps to boost the skin when it needs it most
- Enhance the benefits of the moisturiser
- High concentration of active ingredients to optimise skin results
- Instant skin results
Nothing can compare to experiencing a facial treatment in a professional environment, but if you are using good quality skincare at home which include serums you will definitely see and feel the benefits on your skin.
