How to Apply Makeup that Gives a Youthful Lift
Want to create youthful lift using natural makeup?
But wait a minute, there are so many different makeup looks, trends and tutorials on social media these days, how does one know which one will suit best? And hang on! what makeup brushes should I use? and how do I use them? Or should I use a sponge?!
With a seemingly never ending array of makeup products, brushes and other makeup paraphernalia, its no wonder that a lot of people get overwhelmed and struggle to create the natural makeup look they so desire. However, it really doesn’t need to be so complicated! In this blog we’re going to discuss how to create the perfect youthful lift, naturally and simplistically, using just makeup.
Preparation is Key
Before we discuss makeup, we need to discuss the skin. No matter how good the quality of makeup you’re using is, if your skin is not properly prepped beforehand, the makeup will not sit right on the skin.
The first step in making sure the skin is prepared is to adopt a consistent skincare regime. It’s best to keep your skincare regime simple and not incorporate too many products that will overload the skin. If in doubt think of the 3 Step Rule: Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise.
Once you have incorporated these foundational steps into your daily routine then you can consider using a natural exfoliant 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells and brighten the skin, and you can also incorporate the use of a serums and oils to further enhance the health of your skin, especially for dryer and mature skin.
Use skincare products that are eco certified natural and organic to give your skin optimum nourishment and hydration that will leave your skin looking healthy and radiant. We recommend the Centella range and the Hydraflore range (for sensitive skin) that uses 100% natural and organic eco certified ingredients in their products.
It is important to use certified natural and organic ingredients as they have a better power of absorption into the skin and are completely chemical free, which is healthier for your skin.
Choosing the Right Makeup Products
It can be tricky when choosing the right makeup products. There are so many different brands out there that it can get a bit confusing and overwhelming. The most important thing is to choose products with the right ingredients, and that in itself can be even trickier. Many ingredients listed on products are hard to understand, and therefore we may end up applying harsh chemicals on our skin regularly without even noticing.
Much like with skincare, we recommend always using eco certified natural and organic makeup products, such as the brand Couleur Caramel. There are no synthetic chemicals or preservatives in these products, only nourishing and hydrating ingredients to optimise skin health.
Keep it Simple
So now that you have your skin care regime in check and you’ve selected what makeup brand you want to use, you need to choose what products you want to use to create a natural and youthful makeup look. Again, keep it simple! We recommend using a primer, foundation, face powder, blusher, neutral eyeshadows, nude lipstick, black/brown mascara and brow powder/brow pencil.
Here are all the products you will need and how to use them:
- Primer – after moisturising prep the skin using either a hydrating or mattifying primer depending on your skin type. Apply to the face and neck with your fingertips and allow to set for a minute. We recommend the Couleur Caramel Enhancing Complexion base primer no.20.
- Foundation – your foundation will depend on your skin type. For dry/dehydrated skin use a liquid or cream foundation, for combination/oily skin use a more mattifying liquid or mineral powder foundation. We recommend using the Couleur Caramel Hydrajeunesse foundation for all skin types for a natural finish. Or for a more natural and radiant foundation, try the Couleur Caramel Mosaic powder foundation. .
- Powder – Use mineral powder to set the foundation and concealer. Always apply powders AFTER cream/liquid products. Apply with a large fluffy brush to the centre of the face, sweeping outwards. We recommend the Couleur Caramel Silk Powder to create a natural, airbrush finish.
- Blusher – Apply with a medium fluffy brush to the apples of the cheeks, sweeping upwards along the cheekbone. Don’t smile! smiling may cause your blusher to drop down once the face relaxes. Try the Couleur Caramel Blusher no.52 or 53.
- The eyes – Use a light colour all over the lid to brighten the eyes, for example Couleur Caramel no.103 for a shimmering finish, and for a matte finish no.11.
- Apply kohl pencil liner (black or brown) to the outer portion of the upper lid keeping it close to the lash line. This will create the appearance of thicker lashes naturally without closing off the lid. DO NOT APPLY UNDERNEATH as this will make the eyes look droopy. Try the Couleur Caramel Kohl Eyeliner pencil no.01.
- Apply black or brown mascara to the upper lashes, focusing on the outer lashes. Do not apply to bottom lashes as this may cause the ‘panda effect’. Try Couleur Caramel mascara no.81.
- The brows – apply a brow pencil, in a shade that matches the colour of the hairs. We recommend Couleur Caramel Brow Pencil.
- The lips – apply a neutral nude shade. A creamy, sheer lipstick will create a hydrated, plump finish. We recommend Couleur Caramel lipstick no. 254 for a nude finish.
Try it for yourself
So now that you have all the steps you need to create a makeup look that gives you a youthful lift, why not give it a try yourself at home? Remember to keep it simple. Don’t overcomplicate it, prep the skin well, and always choose 100% eco certified natural and organic ingredients to keep your skin looking healthy, youthful and glowing.
